What is a Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC)?

What is a CAC? It can be a very confusing term for many. Children’s Advocacy Centers across the US and across the globe are focused in their mission of reducing trauma for child victims of abuse and their families.

Children’s Advocacy Centers vary in their programs to help children, but all of them provide a child friendly, developmentally appropriate place for children and teens to be interviewed by a trained forensic interviewer, to receive referrals for trauma treatment, medical evaluations and emotional support throughout their case and court processes.

A process that enables children to be the focus. To bring together the necessary professionals with a goal of making it easier for the child or teen. Good news that prevents children from being interviewed repeatedly and inappropriately.
