Richland-Crawford-Lawrence CAC (Child Advocacy Center)

Plans for a CAC satellite office are underway.  The office would be an extension of The Guardian Center and would serve children in Richland, Crawford and Lawrence Counties with an office in Olney.   These three counties currently do not have a child advocacy center.  Having a center in Olney would mean that children could be interviewed closer to home and would not have to be taken to Carmi for services.

Currently the three counties average between 20 and 25 reports of sexual abuse per year.  As knowledge of the center is increased so are the anticipated number of cases reported.  The Richland County Board voted on December 7th to support a $10 court fee to be applied in felony and misdemeanor cases which will be used to cover the operating expenses of the center.  The Crawford County Board will vote on the issue in January.

Please check back for more details on the project as it develops.
